I agree because a police officer hires knowing they took an oath for public safety and that means being inoculated against all viruses and air born diseases. It's right there in the hiring regulations and rules and bylaws of the job.
However I'm glad that most law enforcement agencies are allowing time limits and other avenues for personal vaccinations which are or should be mandatory for all public safety associations dealing directly with the public.
There should be no political latitude or agreements against vaccines based on non existent rights that the republiqans and right wings nuts have made up. I'm sorry, but as a law enforcement officer, you don't have the right to potentially infect and possibly kill citizens.
If after a fair allowed time frame, an officer still refuses, then they should accept they will lose their job. I've said before and agree with others, if an officer won't get vaccinated then we don't need them on the force. Perhaps these may be the minority of bad actors needing weeding out anyways. There are cadets and reservists who will comply with no problem.
And the police unions haven't a leg to stand on. The numbers of refusals aren't as high as hyped across the country either.
