#388547 RE: PegnVA #388507

I'm not going into my opinions on unions, but I'm for two tiered wage plans for wages only, but the plan should have equal benefits for all. It's bullshit to strong arm a corp to pay a new worker the same starting wage as another employee who is tenured and received merit raises and worked up to a higher level trades-person. To demand equal or near same wage for a inexperienced new employee as a years on staff is an insult to all employees. But I believe your seniority shouldn't afford you better health benefits as any one else in the corp. Of course owners and exec's are always excluded from all the rest of the peasants and peons.

If the corp gives incentives for performance or longevity that's up to them. Part of a problem with starting a new employee at a higher wage in a established contract or program, is it could cause a restructuring of higher wage ceilings for established employees and drain a company continuously. How much profit a corp makes by keeping pay down is probably a guarded secret. But we all know they do that too.

When I have documented years of OTR and certification, does anyone sanely believe that a Kid with a new truck drivers school certificate should be paid the same as me?
