I'd say to much relying on capitalism to cure all ills is the primary cause. We've turned into an oligarchy and basically there has been a war on workers. Unions became a dirty word.

Also pointed out was wether Trump remains or not, the movement he started won't stop.....Unless

Anyhoot, We quit listening to reason and each other long ago...Good time to watch a football game, numb the brain and remember that we really don't believe any of this is really happening in The United States anyways.. ;)
