Sounds good, but t's too Utopian to work, alas. We've come to like the level of civilization and technology we enjoy, and after all, we're humans. Ten thousand years or so into our adventure, we haven't learned much. We still kill each other for power and money. We, and many other nations, spend the greatest part of our budgets on weapons. That's stupid, but I don't think it's gonna stop, unless we're threatened by real aliens. And if that happens, we're done for.
For all we've learned over the millennia, we're still stupid.
What's more likely, though, is that sooner or later, Mother Nature will have her way, and thanks to an event like the one that took out the dinosaurs, or perhaps a pandemic fiercer than COVID, we'll be wiped out, or diminished to a shadow of what we are now, as the dinos were to songbirds.
It was striking, I thought, to see how quickly pollution cleared up in the early COVID lockdowns. And how wild animals began to roam in urban spaces. That happened in only a few weeks. So just imagine...
