What some don't take into account regarding the placebo effect is there is a big difference between taking a drug or a sugar pill and not knowing which you are on for a year versus knowing you are taking the actual drug for a year in an open label trial. Yes you can have a placebo effect to a certain extent even for a year. That's what we do not know here
