Bladerunner,

Thanks, jbog. But I'm wondering, putting your conservative politics aside for a second, why don't you mandate that your employees be vaccinated?

Blade,

I guess I won't mandate it for two reasons.

First business has been a nightmare for the last 18 months. We've never worked so hard to produce so little. We do large projects and I can't remember the last one that was delivered on time. This is mostly because of our suppliers pushing their deliveries of major components back. All I want is this to be history. If I mandated vaccines (versus the gov mandating it) I'd lose a decent number of employees, maybe up to 20% and the problems would then continue.

I give every employee one day off to get vaccinated plus pay for any testing anytime no questions asked.

A decent proportion of my employees travel. They are not allowed back into the facilities for 3 days upon return and the proper testing. Many of these same employees are flown to the work site and are paid 14 days to sit in a hotel room prior to entering the customers facilities.

Secondly,

I definitely see the benefit of the vaccine as far as preventing major illness but on the other hand being vaccinated has probably played a major part in this recent explosion. Wasn't it Joe Biden who declared we didn't need masks and we turned the corner in June because of our vaccination rate?

Vaccination doesn't seem to be any more valuable in the transmission cycle than our previous masks, separation and cleaning policies.

To end, I'll support and encourage anyone to be vaccinated but I believe that's a personnel decision. Let's remember this isn't measles, mumps or Polio, it's Covid.
