To link some earlier posts on possible future sea level rise, including Thwaites mentions:

You sound like the asshole who walks on the Senate floor with a snowball.

[..]

Thwaites glacier in West Antarctica is enormous and is often referred to as the most dangerous glacier on Earth. It has also been dubbed the doomsday glacier. The glacier holds two feet of sea level but more importantly, it is the “backstop” for four other glaciers which holds an additional 10-13 feet of sea level rise. When Thwaites collapses it will take most of West Antarctica with it. This is not new information for those of us that follow the science, for example, Eric Rignot in 2014, stated that the loss of West Antarctica is unstoppable....

That, of course, augurs poorly for humans. Scientists at Stanford calculated recently [ http://news.stanford.edu/news/2013/august/climate-change-speed-080113.html (and see {linked in} http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=90655079 and preceding {and any future following})] that human emissions are causing the climate to change many times faster than at any point since the dinosaurs died out. We are pushing the climate system so hard that, if the ice sheets do have a threshold of some kind, we stand a good chance of exceeding it.

As you know there are heaps on the board about Thwaites, one here with some

and super storms, et al thanks to Mark. He knew climate change was important. It's nice that we all know more about what we may
expect now. Beats putting it down to natural disasters being attributed to a spiritual being, as so many of Trump's supporters believe.

"Religion
Feynman's parents were both from Jewish families[4] but not religious, and by his youth, Feynman described himself as an "avowed atheist".[16][17] Many years later, in a letter to Tina Levitan, declining a request for information for her book on Jewish Nobel Prize winners, he stated, "To select, for approbation the peculiar elements that come from some supposedly Jewish heredity is to open the door to all kinds of nonsense on racial theory", adding, "at thirteen I was not only converted to other religious views, but I also stopped believing that the Jewish people are in any way 'the chosen people'".[18] Later in his life, during a visit to the Jewish Theological Seminary, he encountered the Talmud for the first time. He saw that it contained the original text in a little square on the page, and surrounding it were commentaries written over time by different people. In this way the Talmud had evolved, and everything that was discussed was carefully recorded. Despite being impressed, Feynman was disappointed with the lack of interest for nature and the outside world expressed by the rabbis, who cared about only those questions which arise from the Talmud.[19]

Nice.
