That's unfortunate, Options can be a double edged sword.

I thought about playing some but the bulk of my funds are in a account that does not permit options and it seemed like a huge pain in the butt to add them as I don't want to miss the run

Basically I would have to open a new account with that broker then transfer everything to the new account, mind you an inhouse transfer most likely would be faster then the 5 weeks it took to transfer the funds to that account last year

I lost some playing around writing calls right when it finally jumped past $15 and into the $20's. But still have 400 @$9.95

Got some back in $50's selling puts.

If you buy and sell calls around your position there is money to be made for sure. You can sell calls and buy them back the same week and do very well.
