Australia’s daily vaccination rate has taken a hit since Melbourne’s lockdown ended and, on the same day, a second woman was reported to have died from an extremely rare form of blood clots likely linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Vaccinations jumped after Victoria was plunged into its fourth lockdown, surging from a seven-day moving average of less than 73,000 daily doses nationally to a peak of 122,100 on June 11.

But that day, two events sent the trend into reverse: the announcement of the fatality of a 52-year-old woman .. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-06-10/woman-dies-rare-blood-clots-astrazeneca-covid-vaccine/100205652 .. and the lifting of restrictions in Melbourne.

These were followed on June 17 by a decision to limit the AstraZeneca vaccine to people aged 60 and older .. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-06-17/atagi-to-change-astrazeneca-age-rules-covid-vaccine/100222464 , sparking a rash of cancellations by those booked to receive that vaccine.

A public holiday for most of Australia on Monday, June 14 also led to fewer vaccinations presentations, further impacting the seven-day moving average.

By June 20, that average had dropped to 104,000 doses. The decline is most pronounced in Victoria.

So far, 7,375,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been delivered across Australia.

At our current pace of roughly 784,000 doses a week, we can expect to reach the 40 million doses needed to fully vaccinate Australia’s adult population in mid April 2022.

The threshold for herd immunity varies with each disease. For measles, for example, about 95 per cent of the population needs to be immunised, whereas for polio, the figure is closer to 80 per cent.

The threshold for COVID-19 is still unknown but expert estimates range between 60 and 90 per cent.

Can't find a percent for Australians. They must be too ashamed to use a percentage much. Last i remember it was about 4%.
