Mermelstein: Stock in undervalued companies will be worthless in a depression. Gold will be valuable. And no, I haven't noticed that the U.S. dollar has been sinking for 100 years. I'm not 100 years old. The U.S. dollar was strong until Nixon took us off the gold standard, though it had started its decline a few years earlier when inflation hit.

If U want to put all of your liquid assets in the stock market, that is your prerogative. Good luck.

very important and need big

retraces in prices that have

gotten way out of hand...

Slow down already started is a

result of high costs that have

people saying, 'I Will Wait'...


Reduction in distillate fuel use

last week was no surprise due

to the long holiday weekend impact...


Lower gas use last week and again

this week is no surprise if common

sense tells you that people drive

less when it rains like heck...



But the rain isn't what is slowing

down start of remodeling projects

or the new home fever...
