I had to go to a convention once and it just happened to be in the same city as Rande, Wanted to see if we couldn't meet up while I was there. Unfortunately his schedule wouldn't allow that possibility.

Interesting thing though, my standard room somehow got upgraded to a suite for the same price. Luck of the draw? Someone's influence? Never found out.
