The tree that they are on is an ash. That year there was an infestation of Emerald Ash Borers. Decimated the ash population in the area. The woodpecker’s would come to feed on the borers. Before and after, they were rarely seen.

We have many kinds of woodpeckers and a Pileated is one of the largest I've seen around. They dwarf pigeons some times.

And I think New Jersey is stuck with tRump because he couldn't stay at lago.
