Using religion to justify the most horrible crimes has a LONG history. I wonder how many Americans (religious or otherwise) know that many evangelical Christians for hundreds of years preached that the bible supported the enslavement of blacks (supposedly being punished for the sins of their ancestors).
Something to think about the next time Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson call for supporting the Bushie crusade against uppity Muslims -- now equated with the devil by some of the real crazies.
