I think Intel would have been on a much slower ramp...

If Intel hadn't introduced NGMA I would have sat on my
wallet last fall and stayed with my 3.0 GHz Northwood
box, AMD or no AMD.

The idea that Intel could stagnate product development
in a competitive absence without suppressing the far
more financially important upgrade cycle induced sales
is sheer nonsense.
