Too bad we now have texas, missi, dakota's

Texas is banking on their new cases at 6K, down from the Jan peak of 31K as being the all clear signal. Then again, it was at 6K back in late Oct before a surge. Also they have vaccinated 7.1% or 6M total (2M fully vaccinated), along with 2.6M cases to provide herd immunity.

The total herd immunity is 6M+2.6M against a total population of 29.8M. That yields a 29% herd immunity. Which is what has taken it down from the peak daily ave of 31K. But still going to need close to 70% herd immunity protect the entire population.

Then there are the 2.6M recovered cases that can act as carriers of the virus. So yeah, lets ditch those masks.

Also in play is the UK variant now dominates in the US. More easily transmitted. Meanwhile the UK is starting to see the Brazilian variant, which can reinfect those recovered. The Brazil variant has already been detected in the US. Maybe the UK can ship us a few more cases of the Brazilian variant. Again, Gov Abbott ditch those masks! No Covid variant is gonna mess with Texas! Then Covid doesn't care how hubris its victims might bee.

Apparently Abbott needed some good news to distract from the power grid failure. Deflect the blame away from him. So he created good news - no masks. Now all he has to do is figure out how to get the fully vaccinated number up from 2M to 10-15M by tomorrow. Yeehaw!
