Another view of the NY Times MATK article

The article is an excuse article. It basically says the management at Martek can't understand why the food market isn't adapting Martek DHA in a more aggressive manner.

Well, it could be that just about all the studies for the adult O-3 were done with fish oil which also has EPA and the FDA approved O-3's for heart health, that's EPA & DHA. DHA is supposed to be for the brain and eyes but Martek has yet to put out any evidence beyond the infant stuff from years ago.

I believe it works, it certainly makes sense to me but the reality is all we have to go on is management telling us in the past that DHA, according to what they have seen is doing all the heavy lifting of the O-3's. Now to me, you put out statements like that, I would and did assume that there was some up and coming proof that management was ready to put out to support that claim.

Nada, instead the studies that were supposed to be out by now are not discussed and they are starting studies that will conclude in 2 and 3 years from the point they start [sound familiar?], some time in the next 6 months.

When Dubin looks in the mirror he asks is the rest of the world not getting it. [That was a direct quote in the NYT article.] If I were him I'd be saying you lucky son of a bitch, you just got a $50,000 raise from the $500,000 you were initially making and so far Martek stock has dropped closer to its all time lows than when you first got the president/CEO job.

Now if Mel is right that they actually closed the Winchester plant down and it's not producing anything, just sitting there with a skeleton crew as maintenance to keep the plant in working condition for POTENTIAL FUTURE USE, it will just be another case of them telling us one thing and it being something totally different. I hope that's not what's going on.
