Falk made it clear in the last web cast that the Eclipse device is a hard drive based MP3 player that can be removed from the docking unit to be connected to the PC to download music. It will not work as a stand alone music player as do multiple competing devices. It is strictly for the aftermarket and has no wireless or video capability in its present configuration.
I spoke to an exec at Eclipse a few weeks ago and was told that the device was still being "debugged" at that time. I was given no expected date that it would be available on the market.
Indeed, e.Digital has now pushed expected delivery to the "next quarter" for the 5th time. I wonder if they even know when production is to begin.
