I just called them - you're correct, if you sell within 180 days (!) you are charged the trading fee. Its too bad; you really need BOTH pieces, the morning pricing AND no or low fees. They gave us the first, but until they give us the second, I guess we have to have our accounts directly with Rydex (or just trade ETFs like everyone else ...).

Etrade told me there is a one-day settlement period for Rydex products before you can switch from short to long - or - from long to short.
