For professionals that need mobility, yes. But if you need a
computer for membership management at a health club or work
in the mail room or at a nurse's station or in real estate
or even in engineering where your desktop is a window to servers
that do the real work, then you go with a cheap desktop.
Or if you need a multimonitor system or work in an environment
where you have to worry about theft of data or laptops (seems
to be a perennial problem with government departments).
