After a period of more than 1.5 years of building and testing, the first m3 of green gas has finally been delivered to the grid.
Last weekend there was a so-called 24-hour test in which it had to be demonstrated to Enexis that gas could be supplied to specification during this period. During the 24-hour test, this gas may not yet be delivered to the network itself and as a result everything had to be flared on 2 emergency flares, because the gas produced during testing was not allowed through our flare. These were mobile torches.
Enexis normally uses these flares itself for maintenance of its own network. Unfortunately these produced more noise than expected and “jet fighter noise” was audible outside our facility.
From now on, flaring is no longer the rule, but an exception. There will soon be some modifications to our own torch and then the phenomenon "flame" should not be visible at all. When that is the case, we will inform you further about this. You don't need to do any notifications when you see the torch burn. The process is under control. At the moment, approximately 1000m3 per hour is supplied to the network and that is slowly being built up to 3000m3 per hour.
The photos show how an Enexis employee opens the gas tap to their network. You will also see our gas station, which regulates and controls everything. You can read on the pressure gauges that we deliver at a pressure of 8 bar to the Enexis gas network. The last photo shows the gas meter registering the delivered m3.
We are happy and proud of this milestone and with the production of this green gas we make a significant contribution to a more sustainable society. We assume that the nuisance caused by the fermentation installation will now be kept to a minimum.
It remains for us on behalf of all residents of gate 43 to wish you happy holidays and all the best for 2021 in good health.
