The current ERROR going on is not releasing all the available doses, holding back doses for the second shot. We now have some data supporting a single dose effectiveness north of 80% for both $PFE and $MRNA vaccines.
I'm not suggesting the second dose not be given. But prioritizing the first dose, even if there is some slippage in the 3/4 week delta would minimize death and morbidity.
