Perhaps I should sell some Shwz since I did that the other day with Aphria which of course immediately led to rumors of a merger with Tilray being imminent, and of course the stock will go up today.
The short interest from 11/30 is the most current number. OTC Markets gets their feed directly from FINRA which updates the numbers twice a month. The FINRA reporting schedule can be found here:
The Settlement Date is the last day recorded for the report, currently 11/30. The Due Date is when the numbers are due to FINRA, and the Exchange Receipt Date is when the new numbers are posted to the public. The next update, with a settlement date of 12/15, will be posted on 12/24.
The lag time between updates can be frustrating for those watching closely, but the numbers are accurate, and the only ones that should be trusted.
As for SHWZ, it's unfortunate that the Star Buds deal has taken so long to complete as it is giving the Shorts (smart ones anyway, Oxymoron?) time to cover ahead of the pending official announcement.
