A scam claims a partnership with a brand name and promotes it through media as if they were selected by the brand name as a full time working partner creating income with them. The reality is 95% of the time with a corrupt ceo of the fake company is the scam paid a fee to get their phony name on a website, or in a one time ad, or mentioned as a direct sponsor for the name brands trade show, when they only paid an ad fee by sending in a check and the brand name does not know who they ever are but the pumpers claim the brand name came to the scam. In the art of the pump and dump it's all in the presentation.
And the scammers don't care if it's all entirely false. It's on the internet, so it must be true.
On the second sentence that is a very good analogy.
