Chiming in on your discussion... I feel there are glaring signs of why one would purchase more Cortex at this time (but not on margin, never again, and not that you could at this price anyway).
1)The price is ridiculously cheap, and the market cap is discounting their compounds' potential value.
2)Play it as a value stock(ha-ha), buy it low (here), and sell it with a nice double (quite possible)
3)It seems Cortex is at it's closest point to developing something, albeit with a caveat at this juncture. AD could be huge, considering the aging baby boomers and their dependence on pills.
4)One could dramatically improve their cost basis at this level, with many having bought higher. Percentage increases would also be huge with any good news.
5)Yes, the attachment (falling in love), I'm actually surprised that someone like yourself, Gfp, who did not get attached to individual stocks, found himself here and did not leave (actually, I guess you did). It's particulary interesting that you are here, and do not own Cortex. But then, we are all fascinated by different things.
Personally, I think your contribution to this board is fantastic. I'd hate to see you go, and I'm sure most agree (that is, if they are not too bitter about their botched investment, I mean gamble, on a hit or miss get rich dream).
I agree with daviddal, the risk is part of the ride. What if Cortex was the next Cephalon, is it far-fetched? I think not. (By the way, wasn't Ceph's blockbuster drug in-licensed?)
For my two young childrens' sake, I sure hope Cortex matures. My wife knows what I'm doing, and she is not happy. Yes we reap what we sow, but we do it for love. Cortex could prove to be worth the emotional strain that goes into parting with our money, and not knowing if we will get it back.
I have not, and will not gamble all their ugma money away in Cortex (at least not now, maybe if the share price cuts in half again).
If it pans out my grand strategy will be to reduce their risk by dealing with more stable companies or investment vehicles. A small percentage will continue to be used for spec. But as they get closer to adulthood, the spec percentage will be minimal. Let's just hope Cortex rules
If if doesn't pan out (quite possible), it will be like BLSI for me. I thought they were going to cure paralysis, but the stock remains paralyzed. I may not forget it, but the pain goes away (even though the disgust will always stay).
To better days
