I agree. If these patients are critically ill and there are no major safety concerns, grant EUA and let the patients choose if they want to try the drug. What other options do they have?

I have stated that in a previous post.. It's a matter of Ethics. YOu can't Issue a EUA and give to the population, something that you are Denying to the patients in the COntrol side of the study. The action is unethical and is a conundrum in Clinical trials that doesn't often arise, unfortunately it is in this case.

Personally right now with these matters I believe we are witnessing a historic moment akin to Churchill having to make a decision to risk telling the Populace of COventry of an impending BLITZ that evening or concealing it from the people and letting Coventry get slaughtered which it did because because he deemed it More important to conceal the fact the Brits had broken the enigma code and didn't want to risk alerting German command to that fact by warning Coventry

It is a similar ethical decision... This is a short term ethical decision that will resolve in 2 months as the trail is due to be completed in that time.

Do I like it.. No but I am fairly certain People that no more about this than I don't like making this decision and holding it back any more than you or I
