My current project involves the determination of the possible role of melatonin in development, progression and pathogenesis of Parkinson's Disease (PD). The hypothesis stems from the large literature base that has described a potential role of melatonin in PD, moreover previous studies from our lab has published support for this at pharmacological doses of melatonin. Here we try to understand the effect of physiological concentration of melatonin by employing penealectomy in rodent models.
