It seems you are arguing for the drawing of new distribution maps to be left (in your
case) in the hands of politicians, rather than having independent bodies doing it.
That's what was, still is, surprising to me. It's fair enough, i just don't understand why anyone would support it.
Well you don't live in the USA and I'm not sure you understand how the census every 10 years determines the redistribution of congressional assignments nor how that gets drilled down to a state level as well as people migrate.
I never claimed it to be perfect which is why we have courts to decide in the end how maps are drawn as well as how the census should be counted.
If you had been following along Trump has tried to stymie a true census count by asking if a person is a citizen. That got thrown out of court. And now he wants to cut the count short.
That lost as well.
The way we determine as I said works for us for the last couple of hundred years. Australia may do it differently. I don't really follow how they legislate.
