Look at the nomination dates, early in the year with the exception of one which was 11 months away from a presidential election.
The more recent AND more relevant history had McConnel refusing even a hearing for Garland well in advance of the '16 election.
I've never seen a turtle shell twisted in knots, but we're about to be entertained by such when McConnell tries to explain why his arguments in '16 do not apply now.
