wondering the same thing NW, why are folks not rushing to buy this stock...another 1.3m shares traded today and still not upticking like an 8m float should?? Still scratching my head over this one, and the trading pattern...RJ

Just think about it for a moment, because the following makes PERFECT SENSE, and is HOW IT WORKS:

A company wants to give a dividend to it's shareholders.

SO, they need to know WHO those shareholders ARE.

SO on the RECORD DATE, they ask all the brokerages to give them a list of WHO OWNS THEIR SHARES.

FROM THAT LIST, they give the shareholders ON THAT LIST the dividend.

The RECORD DATE IS EVERYTHING, cause that's when they get the LIST.

IF YOU ARE NOT ON THAT LIST YOU DO NOT GET THE DIVIDEND.
