I know I have been in this circle a few times. Thank you kim. Investopedia gives a time chart that compounds the confusion. It states a person has to be in ownership 3 days prior the record date, and the ex-date precedes the record date. I know what you've posted is correct. I don't understand why their time chart differs from this?.
It would also help investors out if the companies would add clarification to this.
