More police with a less confrontational approach to policing, also, i think. What they are saying is that the evidence suggests there is more to violent cities than politics. Urban areas are more crowded. There is more crowded joblessness. More crowded poverty patches. The fact that those conditions lead to more violence and the fact that those urban areas tend to vote Democrats doesn't mean Democrat policies create the problem. It's the correlation doesn't mean causation thing. That's just what evidence-based experts say.
