#91 RE: Ruellit #90

My accountant said as long as it's sold by the end of the year. I never did like/understand that 3 day bullshit.

If I sell something on the 29th, and it's recorded in my account, it's still this year as far as I'm concerned.

I believe I've sold in the final minutes of previous years and never got any flack over it.

And I will inquire with my full service broker for a third opinion/confirmation. That'll really suck if it's too late. I'll have to hang on to my garbage stocks AND pay Uncle Sam 10's of thousands of dollars.

Thank you!

I could be wrong, but I thought Ameritrade was saying that the last day you can call them to write off non-marketable securites, was on the 22nd. I'm about 99% sure that's what they were saying!

Yes, I just signed on and here's a copy/paste of what they said:
Non-Marketable Securities
Please note the last day to request the removal of a non-marketable security from your account before year end will be Friday, December 22 at 4 p.m. ET. Any requests submitted after that will be processed on a best-efforts basis.
