Most of my money was tied up in my 401k. I converted the account to IRA. Before my first online purchases of FNMA & FMCC commons and preferreds I was asked to speak with one of the representatives to verify I knew what I was doing. Since then, I haven't had to talk to anyone there. The only restriction on my account is that I cannot use it as a trading account. I was told that if I sold a security I wouldn't be able to buy it back for x months.
I would like to covert them to FMCC or FNMA but my brokerage will not allow that to happen currently
??
going from a JPS to a common - even if both FNMA is like wanting to trade your intel for msft
you can sell one and buy - and if in a 401K - the commission should be tiny or you have no commission if you are already paying say 50bps for the account service and advice each year
