Troy,

re: do marshmallows really make one constipated?

Depends on how one administers the marshmallows.

WTM, you asked: One final, very unrelated, question since someone on Ihub knows everything: do marshmallows really make one constipated?

Not if they are hot and crispy hard, at least in my personal experience.

Troy, "marshmallow root" is used to treat constipation.

Marshmallow root is also used for constipation, especially with hard, dry stubborn stools. It can be used with other laxative herbs for chronic constipation that is associated with dryness or lack of roughage (Ibid.). Marshmallow is also protective and healing in the irritations associated with diarrhea and dysentery.

Marshmallow, the confection, is largely sugar, and, in various medical treatements, is added to other foods.
