70,000 substations in the US max, * 10 devices each= 700,000 devices. 10 devices = $5,000. Assuming that 10 devices are used for each, and assuming that TKO does ALL the utility substations, then 70,000 substations * $5,000 each = $350.000. Yup, you seem to be right on the numbers.

I don't know about maintenance money, as I believe I read somewhere that the utilities were going to be trained on maintenance--not enough TKO employees to do that.

As far as installation--I don't know about that either. I heard a rumor a few months back, that the channel partner, which we pretty much know is GE, was assisting in the manufacture of the TKO product---so maybe the $5k is the equipment cost minus the manufacturing cost--who knows?

There was a GE announcement a couple of months or so back, where they announced the intention to go from $1 million to $8 million in 2007, JUST in India!, and part of their work will be to set up and fix their utility system. (They need everything in India). GE is world-wide, so maybe they will be using the TKO product world-wide, which would make up for the lack of big bucks in America.

Quite honestly, I thought the income to TKO would be much greater than what todays' announcement stated.

And then again--maybe whoever wrote the PR got confused--maybe it was supposed to be $5k per device * 10 devices per substation = $50k per substation*70.000 = WHOA! more money than what is set aside for this one part of the project! ($35 billion? out of $40?)

$350,000 * 0.30= $105.000.

BTW, gip, add the utility stuff to the school stuff, and the 440 federal airports in the U.S. stuff, and the MDU stuff, and the NYC wi-fi stuff in Central Park....along with the EDS stuff.......anybody have an idea what that might mean for 2007, in terms of revenue to TKO?
