Do these guys understand how the coagulation cascade works??
The system is based on critical concentrations of factors allowing the sequence to proceed. Factor instability is critical to decrease the chance of unwanted thrombosis. The cascade takes several minutes to run to completion. This is the built in safety feature. Why wouldn't altering the "stability" of these proteins alter the dynamics of the cascade, something nature put a lot time in working out. Incidentally dogs, and probably most other carniverous animals have hemostatic system which are tweaked more toward stopping bleeding than we humans have. In the sixties the animal experiments conducted for the U Shaped Ventrical and the Inta Aortic Balloon Pump had to be switched from dogs to pigs because the dogs had so many thrombotic complications.
