Thanks, YM. If I have it I've never used it, but I'll go where I seldom venture: Too see what sorts of things remain of my Win98 installation. Every once in awhile I go in there and take out things I either don't recognize or don't use to reduce the memory strain on this flivver.

YM, I searched my Programs list and found that I've deleted Microsoft Works, which probably had some sort of spreadsheet. I don't have Quicken but I do have Quattro, which seems to have come with WordPerfect and its group.

I took a spreadsheet course once but with each burst of instruction by the time I became oriented to the place they were teaching I was hopelessly behind, so I mostly sat there and have no idea how to use them. Lots of people do seem to think they are handy, but they must lead more complex lives than I.

I did find something in Scottrade that does about what I want, although I can't force it to do those things precisely as I would arrange and express them. It is at Home/My Account/Gainskeeper. I found my current "portfolio" alreeady in there but also found a way to do a new one and inserted the Dogs. My list is as of 11/24 and is down a little more than $1,000 since then. I think it will be interesting to watch until I can fill it in with my stuff.
