And Italy, Spain and France are all ahead of Sweden on per capita total cases and deaths. Actually way ahead on total cases per capita.

My cousin lives in Italy. He was describing the shut downs there, which have been more of a lockdown there. He was astonished and angry at how limited the shelter in place orders in the US were in states that did have shelter in place. By the way, he is a fervent supporter and defender of the person currently occupying the Oval Office.

Another thing to consider in the US is that the spread outside the NY & NJ epicenter was delayed, and that is why new cases haven't decreased despite the big drop in NY & NJ. The deaths from these other states are coming. It will take a bit of time before the states lifting shelter in place starts registering increased numbers of cases and even later increased number of deaths. Sad to see this playing out in slow motion.
