biocqr, thanks so much for all your effort to set the record straight to those trying to minimize the seriousness of this coronavirus and how deadly it is. We will never understand those who try and minimize the death toll form the highly contagious, highly lethal coronavirus death toll to that of heat disease or opioid abuse. Apparently, the concept of exponential growth from a contagious disease escapes them.
Here are some sobering statistics. There are 950,000 CURRENT UNRESOLVED cases of coronavirus infections in the US. At the current lethality rate should almost another 50,000 deaths. Ominously, the number of new infections remains at a steady high level despite the epicenters of NY and NJ finally slowing the number of new infections. That means the rest of the country is going the wrong way. This is no time to be ending shelter in place.
Some have talked about just letting the virus spread. Here is a guy who was fired from his post on the Planning Board of Antioch, California after saying that letting the coronavirus spread would be beneficial to society.
