Simple - Big Pharma pays and has Big Lobbyists

Lobbyists control what some Governments allow or don’t allow. They control and funnel money to their Congressional and Senate Reps in the most skilled manner so as to eliminate the guilt by association. Only those that are soo Brazen get caught.

United States Politics 101.

They got friends in high places where the whiskey flows and the beer chases cause they have friends, in high places. We may be able to skip some protocol in time.

Remdesivir was initially given as a drug for Ebola. It showed some activity but came in second to Zmapp therapy. Gilead started promoting it for Covid19 early in China and has been very aggressive. Due to the life threatening nature of the infections the trials were allowed to proceed without the standard regulatory requirements.

Big pharmas have lobbyist, political connections, plus they actively support congressional candidates. They know the chief staffer for ever Congressman by first name.

Brilacidin is going to have make it on it's own merits

That being said Remdesivir's and
Brilacidin' s antiviral mechanism of action appear to be complementary . My bet is If Brilacidin aces the RBL Coronovirus infected human respiratory epithelial cells we will be in a combination trial with Remdesivir in a few months.

All IMO,
