The CDC seems to have taken down the 52-week numbers for the period of 2015 through the present and substituted a completely different and much less useful chart in its place. I tried to ask the author, Hinderaker, about it but Comments are closed.

One of the Commenters mentioned the more recent numbers tend to increase as more death certificates arrive and are tallied. For example, the total you downloaded for Week 14 of 2020 is now 774,083, or roughly 2K higher that what Hindraker stated in his essay. If we assume the weeks 1-14 2019 numbers will change very little, that would indicate that, at the very least, the 5K of missing deaths I first tallied will be made up in the near future.

That said, given the overall similarity of deaths for weeks 1-14 between 2019 and 2020, I expect that my point as to little impact by the Chinese Coronavirus probably will survive those increases.

The CDC lists the various deaths. Be careful because it lags a little waiting for death certs, but it gives us an idea.
