It looks Alabama a Republican stronghold, with more Democrat support at local government level, is doing a decent job in spite of Trump.
The present April 21 mitigation date is still a worry though. It's to be reviewed and i'm hoping it will basically stay the same for another month.
That said it's hard to make any detailed comparison as, to take just one situation, restaurants in Australia have been open for take-away for quite some time. Maybe even through it all. I'm not sure. And schools are going back in limited fashion.
When Alabama restaurants reopen it won't be business as usual

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — It's possible many Alabama restaurants will re-open soon as lawmakers recommend immediate re-openings.

However, it's likely practices at those restaurants will be much different than when they closed their doors.
As news of COVID-19 spread across the country, many businesses started making plans for the what if's.
Tortuga's in downtown Birmingham was one of them.

We interviewed owner Matt Vizcaino before the shut downs started.
"It would be a fatal blow to us and places like us to have to close down," Vizcaino said back in March.
The blow came, now weeks later, Vizcaino is keeping his business going after making some major adjustments.
Still it's not easy - he said before they were selling about 600 pizzas a week, now that number has dropped to about 200.
However there's good news: Lawmakers are urging the governor to allow customers to come back into restaurants and certain other businesses.

Viscaino is hesitant, "I would love have the ability to invite people back in but I just really don't want to rush anything. I don't want restaurants to be the cause of the second wave of this disease."
When restaurants do open up to full service dining, Viscaino said things like social distancing and constant glove wearing will have to be in place, and yes, masks for employees are not out of the question either.
The current closures and stay-home order lasts through April 30, and the governor is expected to announce a decision in the coming days.
The decision to reopen businesses ultimately rests with State Health Officer Dr. Scott Harris and Governor Kay Ivey.
“Consistent with what we’ve been saying all along, the president made it clear that the return to ‘normal’ won’t be a quick or simple process. We will need to see declining cases – and stronger testing – over at least 14-days – to make certain we don’t see a return in the spike up of the infection,” Ivey said in a statement Friday.
The Alabama Department of Public Health said that about 38,000 tests have been conducted in Alabama, out of a population of about 4.8 million.
The number of confirmed cases in Alabama grew to more than 4,400 Friday, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health, with more than 140 reported deaths.
Can only make the point that Australia has now 6644 confirmed cases (half again) and 72 deaths

11m ago 11:30 Scott Morrison speaks to Donald Trump
The prime minister has had a chat to the United States president this morning.
As you would expect, coronavirus dominated the talks, which included the health response, and how to get each countries economy back up and running.
Transparency is also understood to have been on the agenda, which would have included the World Health Organisation response and communication on the pandemic.
The talks are part of the regular check in the G20 leaders are having with each other, which also includes the more vulnerable nations around them, which, in Australia’s case, includes the pacific.
While Morrison has set the next review date for late May.

Small changes are being made in individual states, of course. Fact is though Australia's conservative federal government has been criticized in some quarters Trump should be listening more to Morrison than he obviously has been.
