I can't see where the Fed Government should fund any and all willy nilly desires of each and every state. That's not feasible.

Willy nilly desires??? This is a National public heath emergency and only the Federal government has the resources. States must balance their budgets so can't use deficit spending in emergencies. The Federal government can and must help stop the viral spread. Too bad this administration doubled the deficit to give tax cuts for the wealthy instead of continuing the deficit reduction that happened under Obama and so far refuses to provide money to states even with Democrats pushing for it.

After watching this board put up a major defense against the use of Hydroxychloroquine, now the thought is that we need XX millions of antibody tests per day, yet we don't have a clue to the value of Covid antibodies except to fill out the scorecard

\

Yeah, imagine people on the BioTech values board arguing against widespread use of a drug that has harmful side effects for an indication where there was no solid proof it worked. How dare we ask for some real evidence. It is obvious we need more testing for viral presence as well as testing for antibodies against this coronavirus. Are you really arguing against that? Once we have data about antibodies we will be able to assess if people are immune and if so, how strongly and for how long.

You get antibodies to the common cold, what's the value to knowing you had the common cold and it certainly doesn't help you 2 months later.

Are you serious? The common cold isn't caused by one virus. It is caused by a large number of viruses, perhaps a hundred different ones. The common symptoms is what defines a cold not a retrospective test for which of the many viruses caused your sickness.

I think the major decision to be made by this country is if they are trying to flatten the curve or eradicate the disease. Good luck with the latter.

NY and NJ gave flattened the curve but more time is needed. The rest of the country is worrisome, especially with the idiots and their "freedom" protests spreading. People will try and eradicate the virus whether or not you think we can. We would be fools not to try.

This is a trivialization of the Federal Gov't responsibilities.

States can't subsidize lab tests or provide incentives for labs to do more tests, states can't force manufactures to make more nasal swabs or reagents, states can't reduce regulations so testing is faster and easier...only the Federal Gov't can.

we don't have a clue to the value of Covid antibodies except to fill out the scorecard.

Any information about infection rates, locations of hot spots, demographics is valuable. The purpose of antibody tests is to find out how many people are immune and how large the proportion of asymptomatic cases are so states can monitor the scope and spread of the disease. This may help determine who can or can't go back to work or what areas or businesses can remain open or shut down.
