The 'common wisdom' is very often wrong.......proven buddy.
And those who come up with some truth are often ridiculed/shunned, etc.
How about the guy who recommended washing hands before delivering babies, after the doctors had been working in a morgue, back in the 1600's or something....first example I can think of.
