There is a term for that. The Semmelweis reflex or "Semmelweis effect" is a metaphor for the reflex-like tendency to reject new evidence or new knowledge because it contradicts established norms, beliefs, or paradigms.
Interestingly that the term comes from a doctor in the 1860's trying to tell others doctors to "sterlize" their hands. Germs had not yet been identified as causing many illnesses. He knew it worked but the science had not caught up with the fact.
