Sounds promising but I would bet the false negatives and false positives are higher than a longer PCR test.

Undoubtedly. There’s a tradeoff between speed/portability and accuracy.

ABT is participating in COVID-19 testing from both ends of the diagnostic spectrum. ABT’s PCR-based test, where kits are sent to a central lab to be processed on ABT’s m2000 high-throughput systems, was approved by the FDA on 3/19/20 (#msg-154427024).

Yes, sensitivity of that test is something to be concerned about!
