When taking into account vast differences in intellect, experience, mental health, specific subject knowledge, influence etc., it becomes logical to conclude that this statement alone is not a reasonable defense to defend against misguidance of others resulting in physical, mental or financial harm.
The patriotic notion of "we are all created equal" is only meant to remind us of our shared value as humans, that each of our thoughts, feelings and lives have the right to be. Clearly it's obvious that in no other way are we all equal.
When there exist great disparities of the aforementioned, there also exists a given and assumed responsibility on the part of he or she who has the greatest knowledge or power to exercise such with great caution and conscious. Power is a corruptive thing, and popularity is related with similarly corrosive potential.
Because every conversation on Earth can't be monitored we can't make a bunch of ridiculous laws protecting the less competent, but it is only in the absence of good character that a concern should arise in the first place, and sadly such absence is systematic within the human condition.
In short, I agree with your statement in its language, but I absolutely DISAGREE with the spirit of your message.
