MicroOS (Norris Flash File System) is not even glue. It is a set of coded instructions for a method to write to non-volatile memory. The patent is specific to Flash memory, but also stated that the method can also be used with other non-volatile memory.
There are other patents for alternative methodologies for writing data to Flash and other non-volatile memory.
This idea that a simple file management system is some sort of "glue" seems to be one of the attempts by self-proclaimed gurus to explain what MicroOS does.
