The main reason is that Biden can attract moderate republicans and Bernie can't.

There is definitely a split in the Dem Party. Many Bernie supporters threaten to not vote or vote for Trump if Bernie does not get the nomination.

Ordinarily, I'd disagree with you but not in this case. I think there are so many non cult republicans who will probably vote for the first time in their lives for a democrat. I think people are finally seeing trump's utter incompetence in how he's handling this coronavirus epidemic and just want to vote for someone they know can handle complex problems with a degree of proficiency.
