And yes, I know the "content" is encoded with Divx. However, my understanding is the security doesn't stop there.

There is no proof or even evidence that e.Digital had anything to do with the security measures for the digEplayer. The DRM is clearly DivX's and the industrial design is Digitalway's. I don't believe it has ever been revealed who designed the proprietary battery and USB connection.
